Wainui SW Ltd and CEBP launched the project to secondary school teachers and HEI lecturers at a prestigious science event held at the University of Exeter Campus at Tremough in Falmouth .
Teachers particularly like the relevance to the Applied Science GCSE curriculum, the opportunity for extension work, the interactivity of the website and the links to skill requirements and local businesses working in the sector.
“This is just what I have been crying out for to support my classroom teaching”
Teacher, Launceston College
"Really excited about using this resource as part of an individualised learning opportunity for homework"
Head of Science, Redruth School
Academics from the university commented on the usefulness of the resources as a recruitment tool for their courses. They highlighted that they struggle to recruit local young people onto their science courses and one of the reasons for this was the perception that there is a lack of jobs locally for those young people who wish to stay in the county. The Bioscience Project addresses this misconception and shows that there are not just jobs for graduates, but also for those seeking to enter the sector with less academic qualifications.
“Our collaboration can only be beneficial for the university and local young people”
